Keeping track of your skiing and snowboarding action provides you with means to make rational decisions, both in the secure environment of the slopes and when riding in the vast powder of the backcountry.
Knowing your altitude, ascent/descent rate, weather trends and barometric pressure enables you to make safe and responsible decisions, particularly when riding in the mountains.
Moving safely around the mountains, especially in previously unexplored areas, requires knowledge and experience. Suunto Altimax provides you with information about the surrounding environment that supports your knowledge and enables making safe and responsible decisions.
You can use the alarm function to alert you at certain altitudes. Knowing the current barometric pressure and temperature, helps in forecasting weather changes. Using the weather functions of the Suunto Altimax, gives you the advantage of knowing when it is time to seek shelter.
The Altimax automatically records barometric data for the past four days: the first six hours in one-hour intervals and after that in six-hour intervals. When the reference altitude is correctly set, the instrument also shows the present sea level pressure, which makes it easier to read and understand the barometric pressure at high altitudes.
